Pity the poor writer.

Alone in their attic night after night, just the flickering glow of a candle lighting the way as they pour their heart onto the page. Solitary, isolated and-

Oh alright. That’s a giant fib.

In reality, writers like nothing more than the company of other writers. Talking about their work, sharing their successes and failures, discussing the writing industry late into the night.

The internet, and particularly the blogosphere, helps writers come together to do just that. But it’s nicer over a pint or two. So this Thursday, 16 July 2009, why not come along to the Knights Templar Pub in Chancery Lane, London and join in the Writers’ Social being organised by Piers Beckley and Sara Baroni?

If you follow the scribosphere (and as you’re reading this, it’s probably a safe assumption that you do) why not come along and put some faces to the names?  It doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone, or whether you get involved in the comments sections or not, everyone is welcome. Bloggers and Non-Bloggers alike.

Especially you.

If you’ve never been to one of these meet ups before and you feel a bit shy, I’ll tell you a secret.

Talking to other writers is the easiest thing in all the world.

If in any doubt at all, here’s a fail-safe method for starting a conversation:

Sit down next to a writer, extend your hand and say, “hello, I’m [insert your name here]“

Once they’ve introduced themselves, you then utter the immortal words:

So what are you working on?

After that, you’ll be lucky if you get a word in edgeways.

The evening kicks off at 7pm and lasts until closing.

See you there.
