De Montfort’s MA in TV Scriptwriting has held several Writers Days over the years, with guest ranging from Stephen Volk (Afterlife); Phil Ford (Dr Who); Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty); Tony Marchant (Garrows Law); Julian Jones (Merlin) and Laurence Marks (Goodnight Sweetheart).

The Writers Days have always been themed, covering subjects such as Science Fiction and Fantasy, Police Dramas and Online Drama. This year we will invite our guests to discuss Comedy and Writing Comedy for Television.

The event will be held at the Tristram Bates Theatre in Covent Garden and will look at the craft of writing comedy with a comedy workshop and speakers from the industry.

The schedule includes a keynote speech from Laurence Marks, as well as panel sessions and workshops with guests including Jesse Armstrong (Fresh Meat C4) James Cary (Bluestone 42 BBC) and Adam Riches, winner of the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award, among others.

Refreshments will be available and there will be drinks at the networking bar at the end of the day.
